The Artist
A Fremantle-based artist born and raised in Perth, Western Australia, Jill discovered her passion for painting at a young age. Her natural talent was evident early on and repeatedly recognised throughout her school years, culminating in being awarded Dux at two separate art institutions.
Jill’s artistic journey has been shaped by a rich tapestry of life experiences — from personal loss and raising a family to volunteering interstate and overseas. Each chapter has deepened her perspective, enriching her work with emotional resonance and a layered sense of meaning.
Her love of watercolour provides a foundation for creative exploration. Inspired by the distinctive hues of the Australian landscape, Jill is captivated by the interplay of form, texture, colour, and light — both in living and inanimate subjects. At times her work seeks to translate the real into the abstract, capturing moments of transformation and emotional depth.
While watercolour is currently her preferred medium, Jill also enjoys working with oils and acrylics, allowing for versatility in her artistic expression.
Ultimately, Jill hopes her paintings bring as much joy and inspiration to others as she experiences in creating them — each piece a personal journey of discovery and expression.
