While caring for my 91 year old mum, there was a particularly beautiful day outside and I wanted to capture it. She is a tea drinker, and loves scones. Who doesn't? It's just a matter of which goes first, the jam or the cream? So I started baking, arranged some of mum's treasured china wear on a little table outside, place some fresh flowers from her garden in a vase and started sketching, trying to capture how the light illuminated the little table of goodies. The sketch helped formed the basis of this painting. Needless to say, the scones went down a treat!
