Fields of Canola

Winter in Western Australia brings canola season, when the countryside is transformed by sweeping fields of luminous yellow. Inspired by a farm near York, this painting captures the striking contrast between freshly blooming canola and a dramatic lavender-grey storm sky. Using a pared-back watercolour palette, I wanted to celebrate the quiet beauty, light, and atmosphere of this uniquely Western Australian landscape.
