On this picture perfect day by the Swan River near Blackwall Reach, I sat under a big tree and sketched this scene which formed the basis for this painting. The water was so calm and inviting and while there I noticed a man fishing quietly near the rushes. Using my artistic license, I thought, why not added a little companion to the scene, and it would make a lovely, feel good painting. There is a certain serenity about it, don't you think?
